Next RECCASOFT game update….
“The Severed Garden ” is well underway. It’s a much more serious game than “Drawn to You” but it’s the same general variety of game as DtY (but nowhere near as ungodly horrible). Yes, that means it’s GxB ren’ai (girl pursuing boy romance). I know, I know, I said I’d never do it again, but it seems to be the type of game I’m a little better at doing for some reason. Don’t expect as much open-ended freedom from this one, though, it’s based around more of a definite character.
****Update (5/17/08): This game is on hold, as is all of Reccasoft’s game-making for the moment. The Severed Garden was turning out pretty badly, it needs a major facelift and re-write. It will most likely end up a mystery game with a Phoenix Wright-like system. HARTBREAKER on the other hand has a demo out (see the page for details). I was just kind of sick of making games and working on them, and I wanted to concentrate on other things (like writing in this blog, translation, music, and working on my novel).****
Now, HARTBREAKER on the other hand….is on hiatus right now. I regularly alternate between that and Severed Garden to keep myself from getting hung up. This one requires a lot more work from yours truly, though, because I’m doing the music, backgrounds, character graphics, and story ALL BY MYSELF…. I’m almost positive it’s going to stay free and non-commercial but I may be selling merchandise or soundtracks later. And because it’s (sort of) an RPG it requires a considerable amount of programming, which I get tired of easily. Expect a lot of story/humor with (hopefully) a satisfying bit of solid gameplay from this one. It’s going to be rife with movie parodies too.
